Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. All people think and feel that Srinagar is a part of heaven on Earth because of its natural beauty, gardens, waterfronts, and houseboats. It is the northern city of India with one million people. Srinagar is also famous for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts like Kashmiri Shawls, Woodwork. Stone crafting is mainly done by men while other handicrafts like Embroidery work is done by both men and women. Srinagar is also famous for the huge production of dried fruits.

Dal is a lake in Srinagar. Dal lake is noted for its houseboats. It is the second largest lake in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is essential to tourism and pleasure in Kashmir and is named the "Lake of Flowers". It is a jewel in the crown of Srinagar. The main source of the lake is to use for commercial operations in fishing and water plant harvesting.

Nigeen Lake is a eutrophic lake in Srinagar. It is also connected to the Khushal Sar and Gil Sar lakes via a channel known as Nallah Amir Khan.

It is one of the largest lake in Asia. The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum River. It lies on the Northside of Srinagar.


Manasbal Lake

The name Manasbal is said to be a derivative of the Lake Manasarovar. Lake is encircled by three villages viz, Jarokbal, Kondabal, and Gratbal. The lake may be a good place for birdwatching because it is one of the most important natural stamping grounds of Aquatic birds in Kashmir and has the "supreme gem of all Kashmir Lakes".
